LIGHTING THE ADVENT WREATH AT HOME: THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT

The third week of advent is known as Joyful Sunday in Advent. It is represented by rose (or pink) instead of the penitential purple color.

Tonight, our eldest child is the one assigned to light the pink, as well as the two previously burned purple candles. He will be lighting these three candles the entire week.

The third Week of Advent symbolizes Joy with the “Shepherd’s Candle” reminding us of the Joy the world experienced at the coming birth of Jesus.
