BAGUIO ESCAPADE

Our Baguio Escapade for three days happened two weeks ago.  We took advantage of the long weekend on semestral break. We stayed in an affordable and decent Inn along Session Road. The Inn is a walking to distance to market, Burnham Park, SM and major transportation terminals. Because of its proximity to main tourist spots,  a cab is not needed every time we go out. We explore the city by foot only which is fun indeed :).

DAY 1 - Arrival 10:00am
Bell Church
Within its compound are intricately designed arches and buildings adorned with flags, bells and dragons. It has a pagoda and landscaped gardens. There are some Buddhist artifacts to be found there, as well as some literature about the history of China.

Strawberry Farm
There's no fresh strawberries to pick that time. One of the locals told us that the strawberries are newly planted and will be harvested on December. The strawberries they were selling there are not from the farm but came from the mountain of Benguet. So we just look around the stalls and eat the famous strawberry flavored ice cream :).

Mines View Park
The kids get dressed in full Cordillera Regalia: bahag, shield and spear for the mean, tapis for the ladis, vests and headdresses for both.

The Mansion
The Mansion is the official summer residence of the President of the Philippines. The elaborate main gate of the Mansion is said to be a replcia of the at Buckingham Palace in London, England. We saw only few flowers when we went there.

Wright Park Riding Circle
We treat our kids to an hour's pony ride around the riding area for beginners. A pony boy or horse handler guides the rider during our entire horse riding experience. 

Burnham Park
There's a lot development made in the park compared to my last visit here in 2003. The playground which is one of its new attraction situated here made my little girl jumps out for joy :).

SM Baguio
We came here to visit hubby's cousin who works in one of the boutiques in the mall. We also bought some snacks in the grocery that we can we bring to our room.

Wagwagan or Ukay-ukay
The famous wagwagan or ukay-ukay in baguio is situated along Harrison Road on a nightime starts from 9pm until midnight. We tag along the kids so they could experience the midnight cool breeze along the road.

DAY 2
Baguio Cathedral
We only had a few activities on our second day because it's raining in Baguio. We hear mass on a Sunday morning and then take pictures outside the Cathedral.

Tam-awan Village
Tam-awan Village is one of Baguio City's "newer" attractions, having been created in 1998 by the Chanum Foundation. The village is an experience in itself. By living in the huts, guests get an opportunity to immerse in an atmosphere that allows them to get a glimpse of a village life. It is said that on a clear day, a magnificent China Sea sunset can be viewed from the village, being true to its name as Taw-awan.

It was muddy and slippery around the village because of the rain. Despite this, we explore the village and feel the Ifugao and Kalinga's native life.

Baguio City Market
Here you can find all the best produce and products of the Cordillera's at a cheap price. We bought here our favorite Romana's peanut brittle and sunflower brittle. The kids also love the chocolate coated sunflower kernels.

DAY 3 - Departure 10:30am
Hubby and I just made a quick drop by at the market to buy some fresh fruits and vegetables to take home.

The cool breeze climate in Baguio, its friendly locals and a stroll through Session Road is a totally different and fun experience for us.
